What is SoundWell?
SoundWell is a dedicated web audio workstation built specifically for the lo-fi and internet music community. It enables anyone—producers, content creators, casual listeners, and audio enthusiasts—to load an audio track, shape its playback speed and pitch, apply rich spatial convolution reverb, and layer warm nostalgic textures like vinyl crackle and ambient rain.
Rather than forcing users to install bulky digital audio workstations (DAWs) or rely on obscure command-line scripts, SoundWell packages real-time digital signal processing into an intuitive, tactile web interface inspired by nostalgic pixel art and calm rainy days.

Most online audio editors force you to upload your music files to remote servers. This introduces painful upload wait times, server queue delays, severe lossy compression, and significant privacy concerns regarding where your personal audio files are stored or who has access to them.

Professional audio suites like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, and FL Studio are powerful, but they cost hundreds of dollars, take up gigabytes of disk space, and require setting up complicated resampling algorithms, audio routing buses, and third-party reverb plugins just to make a simple slowed edit.

Privacy is not an afterthought or marketing checkbox. By building directly on the browser's Web Audio API, your files never leave your device. We never transmit, store, or inspect your music.
2. Zero-Latency Interaction
Sliders and effects react instantly mid-playback. Changing the speed, space, or tape wobble recalculates audio node parameters in real time without audio pops, clicks, or reload pauses.
3. High Audio Fidelity
When you export, we render the entire DSP chain offline to a lossless 24-bit stereo WAV file, ensuring that the warm low end and airy reverb tails remain pristine.
How the Technology Works
SoundWell utilizes standard modern web technologies rather than proprietary browser extensions:

Web Audio API Graph: When an audio file is selected, it is decoded into an
AudioBuffer. Playback is routed through an interconnected node graph consisting of resamplers, biquad shelving filters, and gain nodes. - check_circle Synthesized Convolution Reverb: Instead of forcing you to download large multi-megabyte impulse response sample libraries, our engine mathematically synthesizes impulse responses on the fly using noise shaping and exponential decay curves.

Offline Audio Rendering: Exporting bypasses real-time playback by creating an
OfflineAudioContext. This processes the entire audio buffer at maximum CPU speed and writes a clean 24-bit PCM WAV blob directly into your browser's download manager. - check_circle Authentication & Subscriptions: For users who upgrade to Creator Pro, Google OAuth authentication is handled via Supabase Auth, and payment subscriptions are securely processed by Razorpay. Audio files are never linked to account data.
